A gallon of milk costs more than a gallon of gas (usually) these days, and I don't know about you.... but I'm pretty sure I use more milk than gas. In fact, it seems that saying "cheap food" out loud usually makes people laugh in disbelief! I mean, I could walk if I had to and live without a car, but you HAVE to have food! So what's a family of 3 struggling to survive on one income to do about it????

Well, that's what I'm going to talk to you about in these pages!

  • Homemade
  • Vegetable Gardening
  • Canning
  • Coupons
  • Planning Meals Around Sales
  • And More

The year I became pregnant was the year my husband got laid off from work. No big deal, we thought, he’d find something else no problem. Boy were we WRONG!! Two years later (almost three) he’s now the stay at home parent, and a pretty darn good one J and we live off my income. We did what everybody hears, cut bills, stop eating out, cut out a lot of things. I went back to school online for a better paying job…… and still we struggled to fill our fridge month to month.

So the journey for cheap food for our family began. I have a coupon binder, I watch the sales, I make things homemade (well some things ;) and more. The funny thing is, that the more I learned, the more options I discovered. It’s been a never ending learning experience, and every second has been fun and rewarding. Frustrating? Sometimes. Were there times that I was disappointed in the results? Of course! Yet I still wouldn’t go back to my old shopping habits even if a million dollar gold nugget fell through my roof from the sky. (Hey, it could happen!)

The trick is to find the right combination of things that will work for YOU. Don’tlet someone tell you that you HAVE to this, or you HAVE to do that. If you don’t have the time, or don’t enjoy doing it, then it won’t work. I don’t care if your savings are 25% or 90% you are a rockstar in my book. After all, 25% of $100 shopping trip is an extra $25 in cheap food, or in your pocket! Nothing to be ashamed of there!

So, browse through my pages, look at the options, and find the ones that get you excited or intrigued and start your own journey to cheap food!
